Michael Edward Stephen, age 62, went to be with our Lord on August 29, 2022 surrounded by his loving family, following his courageous battle with cancer. Michael was born on December 29, 1959 to Edward Allen and Ester Bona Stephens in Manchester, Connecticut.
After graduating High School, Michael enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served for seven years. Shortly after returning from duty, he met the love of his life Sharon. They celebrated 32 years of marriage this year. Together they built a beautiful life and legacy of love. Mike was a rock for the family and loved them unconditionally, even when faced with illness…he was still a fighter. Mike was a loving and supportive father but his best title was Popz. Popz and Abel loved adventures. Together they enjoyed trying to fly planes and drones, even if they had trouble getting them off the ground. Mike was able to teach Abel many skills and loved teaching him to ride his bike this year. Popz made the most of the time he had with Abel. Mike loved fishing, golfing, and bowling with his son, Mike Jr. In his spare time, he enjoyed painting, especially capturing the beauty of nature and landscapes. Popz was very crafty and he dabbled in jewelry making. Before his battle with cancer, Mike worked at Dick’s Sporting Goods Store and was loved by all of his co-workers. Popz’ legacy will be his love for his wife, his family and friends.
Mike is proceeded in death by his mom, Ester. He is survived by his father, Edward. He is also survived by his children, Lisa Quirk, Michael (Natasha) Jr, and his baby girl Crystal. His granddaughter Arianna and grandson Abel. He is also survived by two sisters Tracy (Ernie) and Trudy of Florida.
A celebration of life for Mike will be held at a later date. The family appreciates all of those who have reached out during this time. If you would like to leave on-line condolences please visit www.broughfuneral.com.
