Loverna Cantrell Obituary

Loverna (Kilgore) Cantrell, age 84, went to be with our Lord on July 27, 2022 at her home in Clifton, Ohio, following a lengthy illness.  Lovern was born on October 22, 1937 to the late Dillard and Teddy (Slaven) Kilgore, in Floyd County, Kentucky.

As a girl, Lovern enjoyed being the oldest of seven children.  It was here that she honed her love of caring for others as well as her strong leadership skills.  Lovern married her husband Doc on October 21, 1961 and they recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.  Together they built a beautiful life on Wilbur Avenue in Fairborn before moving to their dream home in Clifton.  Lovern volunteered at the Neighborhood Service Center, she worked at election polls, and loved bowling with her mom and sisters on a Tuesday morning league.  She attended Fairborn Free Will Baptist Church.  Lovern and Doc’s home became a haven for so many.  She was the person everyone went to for help with fixing their problems or to take care of their babies.  We like to refer to her as the “Queen Bee.”  She loved hosting the girls for game nights of dominoes, the card game hand and foot, lots of food and lots of talking.  She was a fierce protector for all of her family and friends.  She loved the Lord and served Him with everything she had.

Lovern is proceeded in death by her parents, her sisters and brothers-in-law Linda Jo (Darlie) Cantrell and Mary (Harold) Keeton.  Brothers and sister-in-law Norman (Joanie) Kilgore and Dexter Kilgore.  In laws, Paul (Lillie) Cantrell, Dorothy (Floyd) Howard, Ted Cantrell, Danny Cantrell and Bill Cantrell.

She is survived by her husband Dolphy (Doc), son Jeff, daughter and son-in-law Karen (Walter Jr.) Morgan.  She is also survived by the true loves of her life, her grandsons, Zachary (Sable) Morgan and Kaleb Morgan.  As her love of being Grandma to her boys grew she became a Great Grandma and leaves behind the lights of her life, Zoey and Axel Morgan.  Lovern is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Sam (Diane) Kilgore, a sister Deloris Kilgore as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and a host of cousins and friends near and far.    We pray we will always honor her legacy of love.

A celebration of her life will be on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Victory Church, 2444 Valle Greene Drive, Fairborn, Ohio with Rev. Stuart Snow officiating.  The visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. where family and friends will gather in honor of Lovern.  Burial will follow the service at Byron Cemetery.
