Darlie Cantrell, 84, of Enon, Ohio, went to be with our Lord on May 26, 2021. Darlie was born on April 17, 1937 to the late James and Roxie (Hamilton) Cantrell; in Morgan County, KY. Darlie enlisted in the Army and served 3 years at Fort Benning. He worked at GH&R Foundry and Dalton Maintenance, Inc. where he was a co-owner and retired in 1997. He was a member of Fairborn FWB Church. He married Linda "Jo" on March 17, 1962 - they were married 50 years before Jo gained her Heavenly reward. They had two daughters, Jennifer (Steve) Hannaford and Leigh Anne (Stuart) Snow. His most favorite and defining title was becoming "Poppy" to grandchildren: Macy (Sam) Johnson, Jenna (Jason) Bryan, Madison (Adam) Murphy, Logan (Sarah) Snow, Leah Snow, Alexander Snow, Kelli Hannaford (Ryan Runkle), Stefanie (Nick) Siemen and Laurie (Kevin) Hopf. Then to add to the blessing, he became Great Poppy to JoLeigh Bryan, (his namesake) Poppy Johnson, Kayla and Kara Tritschler, Braylen and Rohen Siemen, Griffin and Lennan Hopf and Baby Snow coming in December. Darlie's siblings include: Dorothy Howard, Doc (Loverna) Cantrell, Jeanne Summerford and Joyce Campanga. Darlie was extremely close to his in-laws Sam (Diane) Kilgore and Deloris Kilgore. He is preceded in death by siblings and in-laws Paul (Lillie) Cantrell, Ted Cantrell, Bill Cantrell, Danny Cantrell, Mary (Harold) Keeton, Norman Kilgore, Dexter Kilgore and Floyd Howard. Darlie was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was unendingly proud of his grandchildren, and supported ALL of their activities with gusto. Never missing a game or event, and always equipped with a pep talk and bragging rights. Poppy was also a passionate UK fan, sports fan, loved to fish and spend time with his brother Doc and friend Jim Lemaster looking for the next great adventure. He loved food, gardening and mowing his lawn. He was always looking for recruits for the Fat Head Club. Anyone who knew Darlie knew that he was the most loving husband, father and grandfather a family could ask for. We are eternally grateful for the Legacy his life leaves behind.
