Rose Marie Salyer

1971 ~ 2025

Rose Marie Salyer, 53, of Miamisburg, Ohio, was unexpectedly lost on January 13, 2025.

Rose is preceded in death by her beloved brothers, Kevin and David Shockley and nephew, Hayden Shockley. Rose is survived by her parents, Phyllis and Gary Shockley, sister, Shelia Deffenbaugh and loving aunts, uncles, and cousins that were more like siblings. She is also survived by her love, Ernest (Mylo) Washington and his family.

Her love and compassion for her family, friends and even a stranger on the street had no bounds.  Not having children of her own, she became Aunt Rose or second Mom to these fortunate loved ones and many more: Kashley (Howard) Rishforth, Caleb Howard, Brooklyn and Brody Miller, Chloe Short, Connor Fink, Austin and Cody Wright.

Her greatest love and admiration was for her mother, Phyllis.  The bond between these two women was fierce, strong, loyal, and above all, enduring.

Rose was full of life, love and hope. She gave everything to help anyone in need.  She opened her home, helped the elderly, gave away clothes, provided rides, made food, and helped numerous people find the community resources they needed.

She loved to spend time in creek beds finding rocks and in the woods hunting for morel mushrooms.  She loved family get-togethers and to cook. Rose was always the life of the party. She will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday at Brough Funeral Home from 11 am until time of funeral service at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Hill grove cemetery.

This will be a combined service with her Mother Phyllis Shockley who passed away on January 25, 2025.
