Obituary

Irma Fern Neeley, age 88, affectionately known as “Fern,” passed away peacefully in Dayton, Ohio. She was born on January 16, 1937, in Rose Hill, Virginia, to the late George and Leona Haley (née Osborn).

Fern was a longtime resident of Dayton, where she and her beloved husband of 59 years, Donnie Neeley, built a life together. They were the proud owner of Neeley’s Body Shop on Warren Street in Dayton, a business that became a fixture in the community.

She is survived by her son Tim (Loyda) Smith; grandchildren Natalie Smith, Alyssa Smith, and Johnathan Smith; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Jerome “Jerry” Smith; great-grandson Austin Smith.

Fern was one of several siblings. She is survived by her brother Wilkie Haley and sister Jane Vaught. She was preceded in death by her brother Earl Haley and sister Ilene Overstreet.

Fern was deeply loved by many and leaves behind a large extended family and many cherished friends. Special recognition is given to Mark (Jess) Parker & family, and Gary (Terry) Shouse & family, as well as many, many others whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be held Friday May 9 at Veritas Community Church, 500 Hickory St., Dayton from 11:30 am until 1 pm

Funeral service at 1 pm. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery
