Donald Allen Walter joined his loving wife Penelope K. (Yast) in heaven on March 11, 2025. His passing occurred at Hospice of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. Don was born in Canton, Ohio to Clarence and Loretta May (Gates) Walter on February 16, 1942.
Don is survived by his children: Mark Walter, Colleen Sowick, Carl (Lisa) Wittstruck, Stephanie (Scott) Hays; grandchildren: Michael, Marissa, Aaron, Roger, Eric, Connor, and Remi: great grandson, Braxton.
After serving honorably for six years in the Army as a young man, Don received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Akron University. He retired from Trentec in Cincinnati, Ohio as an Electrical Engineer, designing airlocks on nuclear containment applications.
Don loved the outdoors. Penny and Don, along with family and friends, spent many weekends on the Ohio River, Brookville Lake and Lake Erie. Don took great pride is his gardens, his family and the life he and Penny had built.
He loved to fish in Canada, especially Mill Lake Lodge with his closest friends. John Burnett, one of these closest friends, remained a very true friend until the end.
Don will be dearly missed. He was surrounded by love in his family, friends and wonderful neighbors.
