Obituary

Davida Lee “Davie” (Caldwell) Dyke stepped over into glory to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday morning, May 2, 2024, at Dayspring Nursing Home in Enon, Ohio. She was 82 years old. Before moving to Dayspring Nursing Home on April 4 this year, she was a resident of Magnolia Ridge Nursing Home in Gardendale, Alabama. Before that, she was a resident of Magnolia Village, an assisted living facility adjacent to Magnolia Ridge. She had moved from Florida to Alabama in August 2023. She will be remembered as a wonderful Christian lady who loved God with all her heart. She passed away on the National Day of Prayer, which is fitting because she was passionate about praying for our country and its leaders, as well as for the nation of Israel. Davida was born on Nov. 27, 1941, to George Morrison Caldwell and Davida Mae (Stenstrom) Caldwell, in Bartow, Florida. She was their only child. She graduated from Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Florida, with the class of 1959. She earned an Associate of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1965. She worked in several different fields throughout her life and lived in several different states: Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Ohio. At one point, she owned a bar in Cleveland, Tennessee. From 1975 to approximately 1991, she owned and operated an automobile graphics company, Stylelines, in which she created stripe designs on vehicles. She started the business from scratch and handled customer relations, sales, and graphic design for the business. She gave up the business to care for her mother after her stroke. She took care of her mother until her mother’s death in 1992. Davida met Gary Dyke in Cleveland, Tennessee, in 1983. They were married on April 11, 1987, in Winter Park, Florida. In 1994, she and Gary both completed the Program of Practical Nurse Education at Miami Valley Career Technology Center in Clayton, Ohio, and they earned their LPN nursing license. Davida worked as a nurse first in the Dayton and Middletown, Ohio, areas, then she and Gary moved back to Florida, and she continued to work as a nurse in the Daytona Beach and Port Orange areas until she retired. In 1999, she completed a course of study in Practical Theology from International Seminary in Plymouth, Florida. Highlights of Davida’s life were when she had the privilege of going to Israel with a group of people from her church on two different trips. She went on the Kim Clement Israel Tour in 2011, and she participated in the All Nations Convocation Jerusalem and Watchmen’s Tour of Israel in 2014. Davida was a talented artist and enjoyed painting and drawing. She also loved exploring nature and walking. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Davida Caldwell, her husband Gary Dyke, her grandson Matthew Hicks-Morris, her great granddaughter Ryleigh Jackson, and her mother-in-law Jenea “Jennie” Dyke. She is survived by her son, George Randall “Randy” Morris of Orlando, Florida, and her daughter, Cheryl Anne Jackson of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and her fiance´ Matthew Duminuco; fourteen grandchildren: Jacklyn Morris, Elizabeth Pugh, Cierrah Hicks-Morris, Zachary Morris and his wife Samaris, Jake Morris, Amber Hicks-Morris, Cody Morris, Steven Morris, Andrew Jackson and his wife Angela, John Jackson III and his wife Rebecca, Matthew Jackson and his wife Victoria, Christy Hall and her husband Levi, Angel Jackson, and Mark Jackson; and eleven greatgrandchildren: Ava Jackson, Anarchy Jackson, Alice Jackson, Mariah Jackson, Samuel Jackson, Tripp Hall, Natalie Hall, Mariana Garcia, Kingston Hicks-Morris, Essence Hicks-Morris, and Novalie Hicks. In addition, she is survived by her sister-in-law Linda Ball and her husband Gary, her sister-in-law Lori Sorrells, her nephew Benjamin Sorrells, her niece Hannah Ball, her nephew Cameron Ball, and her father-in-law John Dyke and his girlfriend Peggy Jessup, all of Fairborn, Ohio.
